NYCID needs in-person PBL Instructors for the Summer Youth Employment Program. We're running one PBL day per week at Canarsie HS, the College of Staten Island, Tottenville HS, and Lehman HS. If you already work at one of these schools, you're exactly who we're looking for. Online roles also available for candidates who can't make it on-site.

Sites run on Tuesdays or Wednesdays only. The most-needed commitment is one site, one day a week. We're prioritizing applicants who already work at — or have strong ties to — one of these schools.
The Summer Youth Employment Program is New York City's marquee summer jobs program, funded by the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD). It pays youth ages 14–24 to gain real work experience over the summer — at no cost to the youth or their families.
NYC pays the youth wages directly. Provider organizations like NYCID run the day-to-day program: enrolling participants, placing them at worksites, and — for our 14–15 year olds — running structured project-based learning.
NYCID has delivered SYEP for years. For 2026, we're hiring a team of PBL Instructors to lead our Younger Youth cohort (ages 14–15) through a 7-week project-based learning curriculum across the four sites above.
The week is built around three kinds of work. Our top need is in-person. Online check-ins and monitoring are available as a flexible add-on — or as a standalone role if you can't make it to a site.
One full PBL day at your assigned site, leading youth through hands-on project-based learning. NYC mandates ~6 hours at each site. This is the role we need filled first — especially by people already working at one of the four schools.
One 1-hour live Google Meet session in a Morning, Mid-Day, or Evening window. Attendance, progress check, troubleshooting. Available as an add-on or standalone.
Asynchronous time reviewing youth submissions, written feedback, attendance tracking. Bundled with online check-ins.
Hourly, non-exempt. Rate depends on which kind of work you're doing; bilingual instructors get the bilingual differential.
